Kids' Parties Catering Ideas

Blog

When you're planning a birthday party for your child, don't forget to consider the menu. There are many different lunch and dinner options that are sure to please even the pickiest eaters on your child's guest list.

Depending on how much time you have, your event budget, and the size of your guest list, you can either make the food yourself or hire a professional catering company to do the work for you. Not only will they serve up delicious eats, but they'll also deliver them directly to your home or event menu in most cases.

If you have a lot of local caterers from which to choose, narrow down your list of options by choosing those who specialize in kids' parties if possible. They're used to serving food for picky kids, and working with any allergies and dietary concerns. If any of the guests has a peanut allergy, be sure to let the catering company know so that they can keep peanut butter off of the menu. There are a few other alternatives you can request instead, such as hazelnut spread or almond butter.

Here are some additional catering ideas for kids' parties.

1. Taco Bar

Let kids get hands-on with their meals by having the caterer set up a taco bar filled with ingredients such as taco shells, chips, tortillas, seasoned ground beef or refried beans, shredded cheese and lettuce, tomatoes and black olives.

Kids can move down the bar, assembling their own tacos as they go. You can also serve build-your-own burritos, as well as guacamole, salsa, and chips as welll.

2. Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

If there is one thing that most kids loved to eat, it's grilled cheese sandwiches. These handheld meals work well as lunch or dinner and are easy to prepare at the event on griddles. You can also opt to have them premade and served in warming trays.

Side dish options include tomato soup, potato chips, and pasta or potato salad.

3. Macaroni and Cheese

Another timeless kids' favorite food is macaroni and cheese, which may be served as an entree dish along with sides such as apple slices, grapes, broccoli, cauliflower, celery sticks, and dip, or garden salads.

Macaroni and cheese is easy to serve in warming trays, and you can opt to have the catering company add diced ham to make it a more filling meal for the children. Have the kids take home any leftovers in festive to-go containers.

Quick and Easy Sweet Treats

My favorite part of every meal is dessert. Whenever I have time, I enjoy baking chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies, brownies, and an assortment of 3 layer cakes. Unfortunately, family and job responsibilities prevent me from baking sweet treats as much as I would like to do so. Thankfully, I now have a piece of kitchen equipment that makes the task of preparing tasty desserts much easier. My sister-in-law gave me a mini cake maker for Christmas last year. This ingenious item allows me to bake several small cakes in less than 10 minutes. Now, my family can enjoy a different homemade dessert every night of the week. On this blog, you will discover the benefits of investing in a mini cake maker.
